Big Bend National Park 2022

Here & There (2022)

The “Here & There Residency” (HTR) began as a three month nomadic residency hosted in a pop-up camper traveling across the United States.

This project started as a response to the pandemic and the looming encroachment of digital technology on personal memory and the physical landscape.

I moved out of my house in Houston and began the nomadic artist residency in June 2022. Living in a pop-up truck camper, I traveled to remote locations and explored ways of engaging with nature and movement within the context of the digital present. Designed, welded, and sewn together by Benjamin Lee, the camper can go off-grid for up to one week and includes a bed, small shower, fridge, stove, and small seating area.

While life in the camper was cut short after three months due to a family emergency, the project continues in Houston and online. Follow the journey on Instagram and Substack.
